Challenge #4 --The Velveteen Rabbit

The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams is my all-time favorite children's book....more for it's deeper meaning than it's simple story.
Here's one of my favorite parts:

"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real." "Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit. "Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. "When you are Real you don't mind being hurt." "Does it happen all at once, like being wound up," he asked, "or bit by bit?" "It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in your joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."

For this challenge, please incorporate some soft TEXTURE onto your LO to reflect the texture of the rabbit in the story.
Other than that, it's up to you! Be inspired by the book, the illustrations, the words....

Here are some of the DT's projects to inspire you:

Kimmy was inspired by the velvet texture of the bunny and to remember a childhood toy:
Kimmy

Lou was inspired by the velvet texture of the bunny in the story (velvet flocked paper!) and the theme of "REAL":

Haggith says, "this is a layout about my doll that I used to have. I loved her so much. Journaling: "I have never loved a doll as much as I loved Janneke. She sadly died of a broken arm. My parents thought she was so ugly, but in my mind she is still the prettiest ever! :)"
Haggith - challenge # 4 - the giving tree

Julie faces the challenge of people's misunderstanding her sweet daughter Brooke's port wine stains, and yet always sees the beauty in her precious girl!

Here's mine! I am always working to "become real":

Please join us for this challenge and link us up to your amazing creations by July 15th!
We'll also have a winner for The Giving Tree challenge soon! EDITED TO ADD: and we'll be announcing the Where The Wild Things Are winner too! Sorry about that, guys! :)

giving tree continued

Sorry about the delay in getting Kimmy and my pages up. They were both done on time, just not posted. I guess now you know who takes the pictures and emails our pages and such. And she is out of the country. LOL.
