Volume 2 :Wild Things

Challenge #2 is here!!!!!
Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak
If you are not familiar with the book...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where_the_Wild_Things_Are
video-->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63xJu5QUimw
movie trailer-->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--N9klJXbjQ (I am so excited!!)
No specifics on this one except use the word WILD somewhere on your page :D
Just be inspired by it somehow, anyhow.

Post your project (card,LO, or altered object!) in the comments to this post by June 15
and please let us know what about the book inspired you!

Here's some DT work to inspire you!

Julie:
I was inspired by the colors and the nature motif of this book... on my LO, I tried to bring that to life! :):):)
Lori: I was inspired by the muted colors and woodsy images and I loved the line in the book that I used for my title: "let the wild rumpus begin!"

Haggith: I was inspired by the colors of the jungle, especially the colors orange, green and blueish/grey. And the flowers and trees. And a bit inspired by the little boy running around getting all mischievous!!! :)

Journaling: "I love your free spirit; your laughs, your smiles; your running around. You make me happy"

Kimmy: I was so inspired I made 2 pages. This one includes my favorite line from the book, a jungle made out of flower trees and my wild little niece romping about with the wild things I printed off the internet.
This was my original idea. I had this adorable wrapping paper and these great KI papers that matched the color scheme of the book.

Lou: I was inspired by the color and shapes on the endpages of the book.
Bree: The title "King of the Wild things" is a line from the book, and my journaling says ( I love you so much I could eat you up.. like in the book)
Also the clouds and stars in the sky for the "gloomy night without making it too gloomy...

The winner of challenge #1 will be posted later this weekend, just waiting on a few votes from the DT! :D

Have a WILD week!

Volume 1: Wizard of Oz

I am SOOOOOOOOOOO excited to kick off our first challenge just in time for National Scrapbook Day! I hope you can all play along and be inspired by our awesome design team!

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Frank L. Baum

Your challenge:
Choose 2 OR MORE of the following to include on your layout, atc, altered project, or card.

THE SHOES: red OR silver sequins or glitter (in the book the ruby shoes are
actually silver)
DORTHY'S DRESS: blue gingham OR white eyelet lace
YELLOW BRICK ROAD: use the color yellow somewhere
TWISTER: twisted ribbons
EMERALD CITY: green background OR only use green embellishments
WINGED MONKEYS: wings
OZ ICONS: rainbows OR hearts OR bubbles
MUNCHKIN LAND: a grouping of 5 or more flowers OR something teeny tiny
WORDS OF WISDOM: the quote "No Place Like Home" OR the word "Wonderful" OR any other quote from the book.
MUSIC: lyrics from any "Wicked" song or song from the movie (as they were
both inspired by the book)
OZ VINTAGE: one of these images: http://www.oz-central.com/photo.html
THEME: friendship OR journey OR home

Design Team Projects:

Lou created this "wonderful" LO with silver glitter, and wings... there's also rainbows and a lot of green in there!

I used blue gingham (my neice's dress), Yellow brick road (that's a painted prima ribbon package!) , "journey" & wings. The picture itself makes me think of The Wizard of Oz...

Bree made this awesome altered book/frame. Look for a tutorial from her later this week!!!
She used wings, green, journey, and something tiny.

Haggith created this stunning layout with a green patterned background, the theme JOURNEY, and look at all those hand cut & doodled on bricks!!! The Quote on the page in teeny tiny letters (Think munchkins!!) says..."just follow the road this crazy life will take you! I know you will make it!"

Check out Julie's blue gingham dream! That rainbow frame is freaking awesome! Those are "Wicked" cool lyrics too! The flowers are the perfect touch! Who says you can't use flowers on a boy page.

I am lovin' Lori's dreamy LO. Those are some of my favorite "Wicked" lyrics...and just look at all that GREEN!

Don't make your project ABOUT the book,
just
inspired by it!

The prize for this challenge was donated by Bree... one of her fabulous Crop Suey Kits!
Please post a link to your project here as a response to this post no later than midnight on May 15th. Thank you & have fun!

Favorite colors: Green is my all time favorite, but I like just about all of them.

Favorite flavor of ice cream: Coffee Heath Bar Crunch by Ben & Jerry's

Favorite things to scrapbook: my BFF Kimmy, my animals, my nieces and nephews, and ME!

Favorite Scrapbook companies and/or websites(include links): I am a Basic Grey and American Crafts whore. But I have also recently discovered a love for October Afternoon and 7 Gypsies. I'll have to update with links when I actually have some of my stuff loaded. I'm awful. My scrappy stuff lives at Kimmy's house and my camera lives at home so I don't update my profile at sisTV like I ought to. I promise to try harder. LOL.

Getting to know....

Hi I’m Haggith van Hees. I’m 39 years old.
I live in Zaandam, the Netherlands with my hubby and three kids.

I'm part of SiStv: haggith's profile.

My favorite children’s books are pretty much everything by Dr. Suess (but especially Horton hears a Who), Richard Scarry’s Word Book, The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister and of course, Guess how much I love you by Sam Bratney and Anita Jeram. The books are inspiring because of the stories they tell and the Richad Scarry book I love because there is so much to see and help your kids with learning to talk.

My favorite place to read is curled up in bed and I HAVE to read every evening or else I can’t sleep.

I have a whole list of authors I love to read, but my favorite at the moment are Nora Roberts, Stephanie Meyer, David Baldacci, Henning Mankell, Karen Slaughter and John Flanagan (the Ranger’s Apprentice). I love reading thrillers and fantasy.

Turquoise and lime-green make me totally happy.

You can wake me up in the middle of the night for a bowl of Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough!!! Yummy.

I scrapbook mostly about my kids, myself, my hubby and sometimes photos of flowers blossoming. But you’ll most likely see my three kids on layouts.

I’m in love with Studio Calico kits, Sassafras Lass, Hambly Screen Prints and Prima Marketing. Those are products that usually end up on my projects.

Here are the two layouts I sent in for the DT call.

Thanks for taking the time to “get to know me” a little better. I hope I can help inspire you to create wonderful projects. I can’t wait to get started!!!

xxx, Haggith.
