Challenge #6: Horton Hears a Who

Since we seem to get more participation when the deadline is farther away I've made the decision to make this a ONCE a MONTH challenge blog instead of every two weeks. Hopefully that will increase our participation even more. {Though this blog isn't suffering quite as much as Theatre Love, where we only had ONE ENTRY last month. *sadness* So go over there and check it out if you like musical theatre!}

On with the challenge!

When one thinks of children's books one of the first names to come to mind is Dr. Seuss. With is fun colorful illustrations, rhyming text, and life lessons embedded within his tales he's the PERFECT inspiration for Kiddie Lit! We chose Horton Hears a Who as our book this month, because it's one of our DT's favorites. So let it inspire your next page. You can use a quote from the book (like Julie and I did) or the theme of Empathy like Haggith did. Bright fun colors are a must and rhyming journaling is optional. You may also choose to use dandelions or elephants on your page... or the word WHO. Just have fun with it and tell us WHAT INSPIRED YOU!

Here's some DT inspiration for you!

.....JULIE....
.....KIMMY....

......HAGGITH.....

Post a direct link to your creation here BY SEPTEMBER 30th to be eligible for the prize drawing. Seriously, the pages are getting so good it's too hard to vote on them any more!
Thank to all of you for playing and spreading the word about our little blog!

Usually I let the team pick the winner, but this time I did it myself.
This page was just absolutely stunning! Love how she interpreted the book!

I was so excited by the massive participation that I've decided to award a second prize to whoever the team decides they like best (besides the page above), so Design Team girls... email me your votes! Winner #2 will be posted later this week! Along with the winner of the ransom drawing of all of the participants of the last challenge!

I will be posting the September Challenge shortly.

Challenge #5: Charlotte's Web

Your next challenge is to be inspired by this children's classic by E.B. White.

Here's what the DT did. Show us what you can do and you'll win a fabulous prize! :)

Julie: She chose to use some of the web words and the theme of friendship.
I love how whimsical her page is!

Kimmy: I was inspired by the trip to the fair in the book... I used lyrics from the classic animated movie. (Yes I realize I got one of the words wrong! oops!)

Lori was inspired by the theme of friendship. She also used a fabulous quote from the book!
Lou was inspired by the words of praise in Charlotte's web. Instead of Some Pig... it's Some Kid!
And isn't he a cutie? Couldn't you just eat him up?

Some ideas to help you get started....
Charlotte's "Web words" : Terrific, Humble, Some ____, Radiant
Spider webs or farm animals in your design
Theme: friendship, farms, bugs, the fair, missing someone
Technique: colored pencil drawings

You are not limited to these ideas, they are just a springboard.
The rest is up to you! have fun with it.

Again, it doesn't have to be a LO, it can be a card, altered art project,or something else!

Please link your projects to this post by August 8th for your chance at the prize.

The Winner is....

Peggy!! We all loved your Clifford page! Email me and I'll send along your gift certificate!

The next challenge will be posted later tonight! :D
